About a month or so back, I posted a video of spelling enthusiast and all-around annoying Jet fellow Fireman Ed and some other useless meatbag in an Amani Toomer jersey douching it out at the opening of the new Meadowlands Stadium. I put it up because 50 year old men in football jerseys and fire helmets must be mocked at all times but as it turns out I was helping expose a violent crime to the world. Does that make me a hero? It’s probably too early to say. What I do know is this will be without a doubt the least important proceeding in the vast history of the legal system. Here are the facts as we know it:

Jets superfan “Fireman Ed” Anzalone was charged with simple assault today after allegedly shoving Tinton Falls resident Christopher Black during the Giants-Jets preseason game on Aug. 16 at New Meadowlands Stadium.
The incident, now a staple on YouTube, occurred with a little more than three minutes remaining in the first quarter. Black, 29, walked up to the front of the section where Anzalone was standing and stepped in front of him. Anzalone appears to make contact with Black, a Giants fan wearing a blue No. 81 Amani Toomer jersey, several times, the last where he appears to use his trademark green and white fireman’s helmet.
“My client walked to the front of his section and stood next to Fireman Ed to start a ‘Giants’ chant while fireman Ed was doing his ‘Jets’ chant,” Iler said. “Fireman Ed essentially turned and first shoved him down. And when Chris got back up, he started to chant ‘Giants Giants Giants’ again, (Ed) grabbed a helmet of some sort and shoved him down to the ground.”
Iler said Black was arrested by the New Jersey State Police shortly after returning to his seat and “banned from the Meadowlands.” He was charged with improper behavior. Anzalone was allowed to stay.
Jesus, you take the name Giants off the stadium and all of a sudden the Jet faithful think they own the place. Talk about about a double standard for fan behavior. ‘No the loud guy who gets on his fat friend’s shoulder and chants for no reason is a franchise icon. How DARE you have the gall to interrupt his for-whatever-reason-sacred ritual?!? Consider yourself BANNED. You’ll learn your lesson when you’re home watching every game from your couch in HD at a fraction of the cost of attending one game in the cold!’
More importantly, our post of Fireman Ed got shit-ton of hits. I wonder if I’ll be called in as a material witness. Can anyone out there instruct me as to how to tie a tie? Preferably a foxy Asian lady in a school girl outfit? Ahh YouTube, you are really the bee’s knees sometimes. You’re so much better than real people.
UPDATE: NJ.com took the story down but the mobile version is still up but now it says he ‘could face charges’.
