Sans Barry Bonds, Steroids Continue To Haunt Giants

Barry Bonds has attended a few Giants games this year. In that time, he caught a glimpse of the present and the future.

It came in the form of a 5-11, 165-pound post-grunge punk.

His name: Tim Lincecum. With Barry Bonds in the stands July 27, the long-haired snaggletoothed kid with the body composition of an alien threw a complete game and struck out 15 Pirates.

For Barry, it had to be a tragic realization. His once Everest-like stature was eroding with every Lincecum strikeout. So it would make sense that he wouldn’t want to return to watch Lincecum pitch. With an ego like Barry’s, three-hour retrospectives aren’t part of the equation.

Judging from the photo of today’s Giants game, his gym buddies are the ones benefiting.
