Spike Lee and Kobe Bryant are boys. They’re tight. You know, I heard after a few beers Spike even lets Kobe drop a few n-bombs. And at this point, it’s evident that Spike is just flat out recruiting. They’re making movies together, giving each other in-game DAP, and now this, Spike’s new commercial for NBA 2K10 featuring a fake cover with Kobe in a Knicks’ jersey. And how about this lil tidbit:
Funny thing is, the cover art with Bryant as a Knick will be one of four box covers fans of “NBA 2K10″ will be able to choose from online starting Friday. The cover with the most votes will be the official box art for the game.
Come on. Unless this is a hoax (real men don’t read articles, we skim), there’s no way this happens. People have been talking about a mythical frozen envelope conspiracy for 25 years so I’m sure the NBA might have a small problem with a popular video game putting it’s most visible superstar on the cover of it’s game in another team’s uniform, let alone that of the New York Knicks. Although, on the other hand, this does give me hope that someday, if I’m able to achieve the same clout as Spike Lee, I might be able to walk in the offices of EA Sports and demand they put William Zabka in a Lions uniform on the cover of Madden 2028.
