Ed Hochuli > Chargers Fans

San Diego sports fans are the worst in the country. I learned that from living there for 2 1/2 years (and two and a half of the better sports years in San Diego’s history). When I would go see my Mets play at Petco, it would basically be a home game. Whether it was the Mets, Phillies, Cubs, Red Sox or Yankees, you could always count on transplants taking over the stadium. Football season was ridiculous. Your basic native San Diegan would deck themselves out in flat brimmed hats and powder blue LaDanian Tomlinson jersey, sing the San Diego Super Chargers song at the top of their lungs and have absolutely no idea what was going on during the game. I guess my last straw with San Diego fans was when they needed an extension to sell out their playoff game against the Titans last year. The reason? There was a threat of rain. After that, I knew I could never take this fan base seriously again.

Then there was this weekend. Everyone’s favorite ref, Ed Hochuli, made an awful call. He cost the Chargers the game (but helped my Jay Culter led fantasy team, good call Ed). Apparantly, his email box has been inundated with hate emails from San Diego fans. Where were all these poser pricks during the playoffs last year? I guess writing emails is easier than supporting your team. Hochuli is making the effort to respond to all these emails. Not only is these incredibly classy, but completely unnecessary. I’d imagine the emailing Chargers fans forgot all about their mock indignation after getting hammered at Taco Tuesdays.

C’mon, look at these douchebags-
