Michael McDonald performs a chilling rendition of “On My Own” at a foreign mall.
Here’s the Pitchfork review: 2.9
Despite McDonald’s edgy George-Clooney-in-”Syriana”-look, the song fails. The pain of the lyrics don’t mesh well with the plastic qualities of the instrumentation. McDonald’s voice booms through the synth-orgy, but nothing in this song can be recycled into anything of true aesthetic value. Thus, it belongs at the bottom of the lowliest landfill.
