Does anyone remember the LL Cool J/Canibus feud? They were on a track, 4,3,2,1, off one of LL’s albums and Canibus started his verse with, “LL let me borrow that mic” (referring to the microphone tattoo on LL’s arm). Pissed James Todd Smith off. In the same song, LL referred to himself as the greatest rapper of all time. A bit delusional of course, but on longevity and influence, you can probably throw him in the top 20. After hearing his last track, Baby, I’m not sure there’s room in the top 50. Would Biggie ever say, “Your bodies a gun girl, pump me full of led?” Would Tupac ever talk about a girl making peace signs on her eyes like John Travolta? And would Big L ever copy the whole Nelly thing, ending every bar with errrre? This is a bigger abomination that In The House.
