The Mariners continued the process of purging their system of all things Bavasi today by releasing the 20th highest paid player in all of MLB, Richie Sexson. His .218 average will be missed and I figured I’d do my part to commemorate the big guy’s tenure in Seattle with some crude animation that shows what he did best for the M’s, striking out. I must say I feel I was able to mimic his bat speed with stunning lifelike accuracy.

Seriously, here is my problem with thw whole thing: If your gonna cut dead weight from this team, cut Vidro. You have a whole lot less vested in him, and in the (highly) unlikely case that his bat DOES get hot again, Sexon’s ceiling is MUCH higher. SO is his batting average right now. And Sexon can play a base.
Plus, if you cut Vidro, you can DH Felix Hernandez, who has the highest HR-PA ratio in all of baseball.
Plus, it’s not his lack of bats peed that is the problem with Richie Sexon, it is his complete and total lack of restraint at waiving lamely at pitches that are in the dirt two feet off the plate.
I’m merely saying that there is the possibility that this guy is gonna sign on somewhere else and get hot for the second half of the season. That would piss me off. There is NO chance of that happening with Vidro
Screw it. I’m just gonna blame it on Bavasi anyways….

if Sexon’s bat finds a way to heat up, I’m PISSED. I’m gonna do something horrible, like break into Bavasi’s house and change out all of his incandescent bulbs with flourescent ones so he gets a really bad headache.
