Terrible M. Night Shyamalan Movies: Now With Some Swears, Maybe A Boob Or Gory Violence!

M. Night Shyamalan

Mention to me that you enjoyed any one of M. Night Shyamalan’s movies or try to defend him as a filmmaker and you’ll have a surefire unnecessarily heated and bitter argument on your hands. I’ll attack your character, your children, your kindhearted old aunt. Anyone. Simply put, if you like anything he’s made, you’re wrong. I know the pleasure derived from viewing a film is subjective, but still, you’re wrong. He sucks. He’s godawful. He puts together terribly loose storylines then wetblankets the entire movie with a ‘twist’. Ooooh, he was dead all along, water hurts aliens, it’s present day, whatever the hell went on in Lady In The Water, etc. Except that the twist tends to leave the plot with more holes than Andrés Escobar. Was that too callous? See how infuriated I get discussing Shyamalan? I’ll pick a safer target. More holes than Roger Clemens’s testimony in front of Congress. Feel better?

Now everyone of these relentless commercials for The Happening start off the same way:

“M. Night Shyamalan’s first R-Rated movie…..”

What the hell does that supposed to do for me? How is that in anyway enticing? And how good could a movie be if the marketing angle the film is taking is that I may get to hear a few extra curses, see a nipple or witness some gratuitous violence? And isn’t this supposed to be a sports blog? I don’t have an answer to any of these questions.

Unbreakable is a good movie and The Sixth Sense had an excellent twist.

Then how do you explain this scene from Unbreakable:

And as far as re: The Sixth Sense, no that’s false.

That scene is a vast conspiracy. Possibly perpetuated by Shayamalan himself…

I thought the same thing when they said it was his first R rated movie. Like thats something that directors covet. On the topic of movies, why is there another Hulk movie? AND why the heck do they keep doing movie previews and comparing scenes or characters to the NBA playoffs?

Yeah the Hulk thing I don’t get at all.

During pre-game of tonight’s game, they were going around showing what celebrities were in attendance and they showed a Wall-E robot thing and Stu Scott went into a promo for the movie. It’s ridiculous how many ads ABC/ESPN cram into their programming.

I thought the same exact thing when I saw the previews of The Happening. Terrible trailer, terrible movie, terrible director, terrible person. He lucked out hitting the mainstream with The Sixth Sense and was bathed with a level of fame he didn’t deserve.
