Are there no other phrases for “spent a brief amount of time with” available for sportscasters and analysts to use? I have one. How about “spent a brief amount of time with”? Every time I hear someone utter this term, I cringe. Not like when people say ‘LOL’ or ‘pwned’ but it’s close. It alway feels forced, deliberate and as if the person wants it sound likes it part of of their everyday vernacular. It does, however, make for an interesting Wikipedia page.
