Holy shit, those anti-meth commercials that are all the rage right now are more cheery than these new WNBA spots. I don’t want sit here and do the old “The WNBA is a terrible league” routine. I’ll just say I don’t think this is exactly the right marketing approach unless the goal of these spots is to get jerkoff bloggers to write snarky posts about them. It’s pretty much universally accepted that as a product, the WNBA is far inferior to the NBA and college basketball, both men’s and women’s. Basing their ad campaign on having a chip on their shoulder about the respect that their athletes receive is like the lead singer of a U2 cover band whining that he isn’t held in the same regard as Bono. I don’t, maybe not. Whatever. The WNBA is a terrible league.
