Interesting, it sounds somewhat similar to the arena league but with a much larger field. I wish I could get some games down here.

Yds avg
J. Smith 1,510 5.4
C. Roberts 1,379 5.3
J. Reynolds 1231 5.8
W. Gates 866 5.7

Jarrett Payton may loose his job this year, he his not fast enough and John Avery had a bad year may not return with his team this year. CFL is a passing game. You are juging the numbers because you compare with the NFL. CFL it’s a different football. Each year formers NFL players do not make a CFL team. As you said: « Obviously, I’m not as familiar with the CFL» so it’s had to compare XFL or the NFL with the CFL. The came is not the same, the field is not the same and the rules are not the same.

Many love Canadian football's fast pace, with only three downs, no fair catch and a 20-second time limit to put the ball in play and the size of the field. The multiple guys in motion allowed running up field before the snap. This makes the game wild and crazy, a lot of passing and big plays. This means different types of players. Small talent players have they places in Canada because of the size of the field. A large place is made for improvisation. QB’s need to learn to improvise otherwise they don’t make it.

Thanks CFL man for forcing me to look up CFL stats.

Yes, a lot of the top runners from last year had average YPC of 5+, but my point is, Ricky Williams wasn't in top football shape and came in and picked up 4.8 YPC. I don't think the CFL is anywhere near the XFL as far as talent and competition, but it's nowhere near the NFL either. There's a reason why Jarrett Payton and John Avery are amongst the rushing leaders.

Obviously, I'm not as familiar with the CFL as you are, but is there not much emphasis on the running game? The fourth leading rusher in the entire league had only 866 yards. Just curious.
