Kenji Johjima is going to be 32 in a little over a month. Last year his numbers were slightly down from his rookie year and this is year they are just fuck awful. Seattle has 24 year old catcher Jeff Clement, the player they selected ahead of Ryan Zimmerman, Ryan Braun, Troy Tulowitzki, Jay Bruce, Jacoby Ellsbury and Clay Buchholz in the ‘05 draft, still sitting in the minors after going .270/.370/.497 in AAA last year. Even if they intend to bring up Clement to DH, I still don’t understand why the M’s are re-signing Johjima for another three years.
