Aaron Fike races on heroin

All the talk and discussion about steroids is cliché. And boring. So-and-so injected this, whatshisname received a shipment of that, it’s hurting the game, blah blah blah. This sentiment has been regurgitated ad nauseum. I want to hear about something different. Something with an edge. Enter NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Aaron Fike, who recently admitted that he sometimes used to shoot up heroin on days that he would race. Wow. I don’t even like to shoot up heroin when I’m blogging (full disclosure: I usually wait until the Mariners’ game comes on. It eases the pain and sometimes even lets me convince myself it’s 1995 all over again), let alone while I’m trying to navigate sharp turns in a souped up pickup truck amongst a pack of 20+ drivers all of which are going 150 MPH or more (Any figures listed are crude estimations. I refuse to watch the truck series until Dorn creates a fantasy league group for it, or until at least 20% of the racers involved are doped up). I also enjoyed this quote from the article:

NASCAR officials say that they have considered random drug testing but said they are comfortable the current policy is working.

Yes, aside from preventing the occasional heroin addict from getting behind the wheel and recklessly endangering the lives of everyone of your racers, I wholeheartedly agree.
