Despite raking in almost $90 million in box office receipts in the US alone, on a $50 million budget I remind you, Matthew McConaughey’s Failure to Launch walked away from this year’s Oscars empty-handed. Why? Is it because they replaced Robert Duvall with Terry Bradshaw just before filming began? No. If you’ve ever had the privilege of watching The Cannonball Run, it should come as no surprise to you that Bradshaw is by far the superior thespian. The truth is traditional boy meets girl love stories bore the hell out Oscar voters.
Forget that tired-ass looking SJ Parker and take a look at this re-edited trailer for Failure to Launch. Don’t even tell me a man-on-man friendly romantic comedy starring Matthew McConaughey and Terry Bradshaw couldn’t work.

21 clicks on YouTube in 12 hours. I don’t think anybody was ready for it. I think I just followed up Deer Hunter with Heaven’s Gate.

I thought an Ay Pappy was coming there at the end. I guess that is in the internationally distributed version.
