I don’t know if Joe Christensen is intentionally messing with the heads of Mets fans or if his information is real. Last week, Christensen began a firestorm in Mets world by claiming that the Mets could finalize a deal for Santana by adding Fernando Martinez to a package of Carols Gomez, Deolis Guerra, Kevin Mulvey and Philip Humber. This week, he is reporting that of the 3 packages available (Mets, Yankees, Red Sox), the Twins are most intrigued by the Mets offer. While the Yankees and Red Sox offers contain players who will be Twins in 2008, the Mets are offering players with much higher ceilings. Within the piece, Christensen also notes that Twins officials expect Santana to be traded before Spring Training opens.
