Yardbarker has become one of the strongest Sports Blogs around. A big part of the strength comes from athlete bloggers. They range from Superstars to younger players just getting their careers started. Yardbarker’s inherent is to have the community grade all the site’s conent, so for the New Year, I figured I’d post a list of the top ten athlete bloggers. Feel free to post your own top ten list, or any thoughts you may have.
- Kyle Harrison – Kyle’s debut article featured a little bit of lacrosse mixed in with record reviews and super hero arguments. He has always been friendly and accessible. Kyle’s blog seems like you are shooting the breeze with one of your buddies as much as it seems like you are reading the thoughts of one of the better lacrosse players in the World.
- Dontrelle Willis – Dontrelle has not been on the site very long. He debuted about a minute after the ink was dry on his trade to Detroit. But since he’s been on the site, Dontrelle has been around. He defines accessibility and that is a big plus in the Yard. If you have made Dontrelle a favorite, you will see that he comments on a ton of articles, from boxing to football and just about everything else.
- Diana Taurasi – I will be the first to admit that I am not a WNBA fan. In the ten years or so that the league has around, I can’t say I’ve watched a complete game. Diana’s blog may change that (well maybe not a full game, but at least a half). She mixes in thoughts on winning the title this year, with political views, pop culture references and video clips.
- Greg Oden – Greg’s blog features his thoughts on what has been an up and down year for him. He was already writing for the site when the Blazers made him the first pick in the draft. Since his injury, Greg has written frequently and gives some great insight on his rehab. He also lets his inner fan come out in his contests. Giving away video games never hurts your standing.
- Bryon Friedman – All Bryon’s posts include videos of someone (sometimes him) either ripping up a trail with a camera on their head or someone biting it very hard. They are usually traveling at very high speeds. Needless to say I am a fan and if you enjoy stuff like this, his blog is one to check out.
- Baron Davis – Not only is Baron a certifiable superstar, but the energy of his blog is ridiculous. Reading his first blog will pick your pulse up about 12 notches. Baron likes to talk about topics outside of his career, especially the Warriors book club. My favorite BD video is this one, where he candidly responds to criticism leveled by some Yardbarkers.
- Donovan McNabb – Before I say anything else, I feel like McNabb has always been treated unfairly. Most of the criticism leveled at him is not only uninformed, but delivered by people from Pennsylvania as well. McNabb has always handled adversity and criticism with class. His blog gave us special insight on what has been a tough season and this article, defending himself from the fallout of his HBO interview.
- Danny Richmond – Danny is a young up and coming defensemen in the Blackhawks system. He started the season on the team, but has since been sent down to the minors. His journey up then down and soon to be back up again is very interesting. He is candid with his thoughts and seems to genuinely appreciate the supports of the Yard.
- Mike Conley Jr. – If only on the strength of the Dribble Machine video
- Marshawn Lynch- f[pdj[iawrjwrgjidsafjdwajf[‘psdjgjwrgwkmf]jsdfjvsda’p 10b- Chris Henry – Since he left the Yard, he has received limited playing time as well as a banned substances suspension. But he was the first athlete blogger, and without him, Yardbarker might now have all the great athletes posting that they do now.
